Tropical Cyclone Condition Of Readiness (TCCOR)

The TCCOR is a status level used by the United States military to prepare residents of various military bases in Japan and Guam to pending tropical storms and cyclones.  J1 may announce TCCOR levels over the air or through our social media outlets.  The following are the definitions of the various categories:

 

TCCOR-4

Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within the next 72 hours. 

(NOTE: Okinawa remains on TCCOR-4 at all times between June 1~November 30 of each year.)

TCCOR-3 Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within the next 48 hours.
TCCOR-2 Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within the next 24 hours.
TCCOR-1 Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within the next 12 hours.
TCCOR-1C Winds are blowing at 34~49 knots and are expected to reach 50 knots or more within 12 hours.
TCCOR-1E EMERGENCY.  Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are occurring.
TCCOR-1R Recovery. Destructive winds have passed but winds of 34~49 knots are still occurirng.
TCCOR-SW STORM WATCH. The typhoon is moving away however there might be hazardous areas the storm has damaged.
ALL CLEAR All tropical cyclone danger has passed.
